“Button, You Must Wander” is an early American singing game. Or does it go all the way back to England? The words hint at the fascination of buttons and the stories they could tell. As a child, one of my favorite playthings was my grandmother’s button box. It simply sparked imagination. In choosing our buttons, I look for that spark. Is it a stunning focal point for a necklace – or maybe it is perfect for a bracelet clasp. Perhaps a piece of jewelry could be made of many of them. Buttons lend themselves to traditional and non-traditional uses. Our buttons are primarily from the Czech Republic. While some of them are truly vintage buttons (and they will be so-labeled), most are made from new glass and old molds. In so doing, you have the very best. Our Czech glass buttons are made one button at a time, the old way. When it says “back-painted”, it means literally that someone carefully painted the back of clear glass to show color and emphasize detail. Once again, what a story they could tell!
